Nordcapital finance company establishes aviation division
Peter Huijbers new managing director

Hamburg, 10 January, 2008. The Hamburg-based financing company Nordcapital established Nordcapital Aviation at the beginning of 2008. Through this corporate diversification, Reiner Seelheim, the finance company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), aims to introduce new products and thus also generate a significant increase in the placement volume. The Managing Director of the newly established company, which is headquartered in Hamburg, is the aviation expert Peter Huijbers (44). He is responsible for building up the company and all aviation-related activities. "The aviation industry has tremendous growth potential and offers attractive returns for our investors via closed-end aircraft funds," Seelheim points out. Nordcapital anticipates to create the first aircraft fund in the second half of 2008.

Peter Huijbers has been in aviation for well over 20 years. Most recently, he worked for nine years at Lufthansa Technik AG in Hamburg. In his capacity as Director, Key Account Lessors and Banks, the native Dutchman was responsible for the aircraft trading and leasing market segment. Furthermore, he played a key role in developing the aircraft asset management product for the Lufthansa Technik Group. Prior to working with Lufthansa Technik AG, the university graduated engineer had positions at BMW Rolls-Royce in Germany and in the USA,  KHD Luftfahrttechnik in Oberursel, Germany and other companies. Huijbers is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT) since 2005.

Various studies forecast that the global volume of passenger air traffic will grow by approximately five per cent per annum up to the year 2026. The current high level of demand for aircraft is driven by factors such as the globalisation, emerging markets and the substantial growth of low-cost carriers. In addition, many of the existing fleets are being renewed, as state-of-the-art aircraft require less fuel and thus lower the kerosene costs for the airlines.
