The Nordcapital Group focuses on the global growth areas of transport and energy in order to serve the interests of its clients through solid investments in physical resources. Alongside the established areas of shipping, real estate and private equity, we have now begun applying our many years of expertise in the structuring of closed-end funds to further high-growth investment areas such as offshore shipping and renewable energy.
€6.3 billion invested
Since the founding of Nordcapital in 1992 we have realised an investment volume of some €6.3 billion. A total of 55,000 investors has placed equity worth €2.7 billion in 128 Nordcapital funds. The Group has a workforce of some 100 people. Nordcapital is organised in a holding structure into the divisions shipping, real estate, private equity, renewable energies and aviation. Nordcapital GmbH is responsible for strategic corporate planning, the design of Nordcapital’s funds and financial management of the Group.

Issuing House
The marketing and sale of Nordcapital funds is coordinated by the issuing house, Nordcapital Emissionshaus. An important part of this activity is cooperation with more than 1,000 selected distribution partners in banking, asset management and financial services in Germany.
Investor Relations
The interface between investors and the fund companies is Nordcapital Treuhand, with its departments of Investor Relations, Taxes, Legal and Controlling. It provides regular information on the development of the companies, and looks after taxation matters. It organises voting and shareholders’ meetings, and handles matters related to the register of companies. It also acts as a trustee in handling new issues, managing trustee accounts for inward and outward payments, and administers powers of attorney and guardianship arrangements.
Secondary Market
Nordcapital established a transparent secondary market at an early stage, to enable investors to dispose of their fund holdings before the end of the set term if necessary. The secondary market business is handled by the Nordcapital Group company DSM Deutsche Sekundärmarkt GmbH, which is the market leader for trading in ship fund shares.
Nordcapital Shipping
Shipping is Nordcapital’s largest business area. By the end of 2007 Nordcapital had launched 97 ship funds with a total of 120 ships. The Group’s associated shipping line E.R. Schiffahrt is a service provider for large liner companies worldwide. At present, it is responsible for management of 126 ships in operation and in construction, including container ships, offshore vessels, bulkers and tankers.
Nordcapital Real Estate
At present, a total of 12 real estate funds with 18 properties were realized in the Netherlands, the UK and the USA. Total investment volume is about € 555 million. All Nordcapital's real estate funds are running to plan or better.
Nordcapital Portfolio Management
Concept design and management of the Nordcapital secondary market funds is handled by Nordcapital Portfolio Management. It also administers the funds in the framework of buying and selling decisions.
Nordcapital New Energy
In a context of increasing environmental pollution and rising energy prices, renewable energies are a key alternative for the future. The Group has created the conditions for investment activities in this sector with the establishment of Nordcapital New Energy.
Private Equity
Nordcapital manages the private equity business via equitrust AG, in which it has a 100% stake. Apart from direct investments, equitrust designs and manages all Nordcapital’s private-equity funds of funds. It has access to the world’s leading private equity companies, thus enabling private investors to take on an exposure of reasonable size in this attractive market, without the need for specialist knowledge of target companies and sectors. At present, Nordcapital had launched 9private equity funds with a total volume of some €200 million.
