Award-winning company
The German Association of Closed-End Funds, (Verband Geschlossene Fonds, VGF) in Frankfurt has published the sector’s placement figures for 2010. Hamburg-based investment company Nordcapital was able to maintain its position as market leader in the field of shipping investments, placing some €115 million of equity capital. Nordcapital is also among the front runners in terms of overall placement. The investment company raised equity capital of €240 million, ranking it third and making it one of the sector’s top providers.
Only recently, the Hamburg-based firm was awarded the “Fund initiator of the Year” prize – known as the “Golden Bull” – by the magazine publisher Finanzen Verlag. The award ceremony formed part of the annual “Finanzen-Nacht” event in Munich.
“We are delighted to have won the award. It acknowledges our ongoing performance – especially in 2010, which was a very difficult year on the markets. At the same time, we see the prize as an incentive to continuously improve and build on our already high performance and service levels,” says Reiner Seelheim, CEO of the Nordcapital Group and member of the Board of Directors at VGF.
In 2010, Nordcapital investors funded projects including one of the world’s largest photovoltaic parks in Bavaria, modern office space in the Netherlands, and valuable mixed woodland in Romania. In addition to this, almost half of the equity capital was invested in various ship funds.
