Over many years private equity has grown into an established and ever increasingly important asset class to the investor in alternative assets.
Through its fund-of-funds vehicles Nordcapital offers its retail investors tailor-made solutions to participate in the potential of this investment segment. In structuring these funds of funds equitrust focuses on the distinctive needs of its investors in regard to the appropriate risk-return profile as well as their tax specifics. Key to the investment strategy is the selection of quality private equity managers through a rigorous due diligence process. Also owing to this, equitrust has committed 90% of total assets to the buyout sector which not only represents the largest segment of private equity but historically also one of the least volatile.
With more than 95% of total assets invested in geographies of developed markets such as Europe and North America, this further adds to equitrust’s focus on stable performance. Selective investments in attractive speciality segments such as distressed debt or the Asian market complement this core.
Placed private equity funds
At present, equitrust manages nine Nordcapital private equity funds of funds with approximately €200 million in total assets under management. These Nordcapital funds have committed to 25 target funds – managed by 20 renowned private equity firms – which, in turn, have to date (December 2010) invested in approximately 417 individual portfolio companies.
